Asanga Ranasinghe appointed to LAUGFS boards

LAUGFS Holdings, one of the country’s largest diversified business conglomerates, announced the appointment of Asanga Ranasinghe to the boards of LAUGFS Holdings and LAUGFS Gas Plc as Executive Director. 

He was also appointed as the Sector Managing Director of the Consumer and Retail cluster of LAUGFS Holdings, and further holds the position of Group Marketing Director.

Ranasinghe is a renowned marketer and business leader in the corporate sector, having held various senior leadership roles both in Sri Lanka and overseas in the fields of marketing, sales and customer development, supply chain, manufacturing and R&D.

He joins LAUGFS from Brandix, where he worked in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer. Prior to that, he was spearheading the marketing operations of Unilever Pakistan as Vice President. During his tenure of over 20 years at Unilever, Ranasinghe held leadership roles in a number of countries including the post of Customer Development Director for Sri Lanka and Maldives as well as Marketing Director of Unilever Sri Lanka. He has also served as a Statutory Director of the Unilever Sri Lanka Board.

Ranasinghe is the current Honorary President of CIM Sri Lanka. He is also a visiting lecturer in Marketing and Business Strategy for the MBA program at the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a Chemistry Special Honours graduate from the University of Colombo and holds an MBA from PIM, University of Sri Jayawardenepura. He is a Chartered Marketer and Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and holds a Professional Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing (FCIM).
