Ali Asger appointed to People’s Leasing Board

Dr. Ali Asgar Shabbir Gulamhusein has been appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director to the Board of People’s Leasing and Finance Plc with effect from 23 July 2015.

Dr. Ali Asger Shabbir Gulamhusein serves as Chairman and Director of several private and public quoted companies, including Adam Investments Plc, Orient Garments Plc, Ceylon and Foreign Trades Plc and Adam Capital Plc. He is also a Director of the Insurance BUP_DFT_DFT-1-3 Board of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Institute of Textiles and Apparel.

Dr. Gulamhusein specialises in structured Acquisitions and Mergers with an emphasis on Manufacturing and Export entities. He accounts for over a decade of experience in diversified sectors such as Investments, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Apparel, Activated Carbons, Construction, International Trade, Information Technology and Automobile. He is also actively involved in several charitable projects throughout Sri Lanka having completed charitable projects in Buttala, Kapaladi and Colombo.

He holds a PhD from Tokyo, Japan and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Business management from King’s College London, UK. Dr. Gulamhusein has been bestowed with the prestigious title of ‘Deshabandhu Manawahithawadhi, Lankaputhra’ and also serves as a Justice of Peace (all island).

Following the latest appointment, the Board of Directors of Peoples Leasing and Finance comprises Hemasiri Fernando (Chairman), Pradeep Amirthanayagam (Deputy Chairman), N.V. Kumar, Jehan Amaratunga, J.A. Fernando, M.A.M. Rizwan, R.M. Jayasena and A.A.S. Gulamhusein.
