GL to travel to New Delhi to extend CHOGM invite

External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris will travel to New Delhi on 18 August to invite India for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Colombo this November, the Hindu newspaper reported.

Quoting a spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs in India, the newspaper said that other issues related to India and Sri Lanka are also likely to be discussed during the Minister Peiris’s visit. Some political parties in India have urged New Delhi to refrain from participating in the CHOGM in Colombo, the Hindu said.
