Ambassador visits Classic Fashion Apparel Industry in Jordan

 The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Jordan paid a visit to Classic Fashion Apparel Industry Co. Ltd in Ramtha, Irbid, Jordan recently where over 1200 Sri Lankans are employed.

 Chairman and Managing Director of the company Sanal Kumar, the management team and the Sri Lankan employees warmly welcomed the ambassador and the team and arranged a site visit to the factory facilities.

During the introduction, the Ambassador requested more job opportunities for Sri Lankans in the factory. In response, Chairman Kumar agreed to provide additional job opportunities during the first quarter of 2024. The chairman also emphasized the company’s commitment to ensure the welfare and safety of its workers who are from different Asian countries.

In her address, the ambassador stressed the importance of having close contact with the embassy and their relatives in Sri Lanka during this unprecedented time. She further spoke about the risk of illegal migration. The Third Secretary (Employment & Welfare) provided more information on human smuggling and trafficking. The mission officials provided necessary consular assistance to the Sri Lankan factory employees during the interactive session which was arranged by the company. The visit was a positive exchange of ideas and reaffirmed the commitment of the Sri Lanka embassy to ensure close coordination with the top management and Sri Lankan employees of the factory.
