New record price for Western High Grown BOPF Grade

Bearwell Estate Talawakelle this week achieved a record price of Rs. 780 per kg for an Invoice of BOPF, breaking the previous record of Rs. 700 set in 2013.

Asia Siyaka said this record price was paid by Tea-Link Colombo Ltd for an European customer.

Bearwell Estate is part of Talawakelle Tea Estates PLC, a member of the Hayleys Group of Companies. This tea was sold through the catalogues of Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC.

Asiya Siyaka also said the exceptional weather conditions experienced on the Western slopes of the Central Hills after many years has aided production of a very exciting range of seasonal quality teas this year. In fact in the last few years the Western quality season could not get going due to irregular weather.

“Interestingly, a range of other seasonal teas attracted special inquiry and sold at attractive price levels,” Asia Siyaka added.
