Financial assistance for farmers to commence Maha season

A large number of farming communities in Udadumbara will benefit from financial assistance, provided by the Economic Development Ministry, to commence the Maha season paddy cultivation, especially to buy seed paddy. Accordingly, Rs. 5.4 million was distributed among 1,500 farmers of Dambagahapitiya in Udadumbara for the Maha season. The funds were out of the Rs. 180 million allocated under the Economic Development Ministry for Dambagahapitiya by Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake. The Chief Minister said no other Government in the past has given such relief to farmers.
