Sri Lankan company Borneo Exotics has been awarded a Gold Medal at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in the UK. This is the largest flower show in the world and widely regarded to be the world’s second most prestigious flower show after London’s Chelsea Flower Show, at which Borneo Exotics has already won five Gold Medals and two special Annual Awards. The exhibit staged at this show was described by the judges as “stunning and spectacular” and  featured a jungle setting, focusing on some of the new hybrid plants bred by Borneo Exotics, all of which were created in Sri Lanka in a breeding programme stretching back over 15 years. This highlights the suitability of Sri Lanka as a stable platform for long-term projects involving R&D and innovative development work. The suitability and stability of Sri Lanka for long-term investment projects is also illustrated in a recent BOI video, parts of which feature some of the work being done at Borneo Exotics: http://www.investsrilanka.com/welcome_to_boi/investsrilanka_video.html The management of Borneo Exotics commended its staff for its dedication and attributed its success also to the assistance rendered by Sri Lankan state agencies such as the BOI, the Department of Agriculture, Wildlife, Forestry and Customs and Excise.
