Records continue to tumble from Uva and Low Growns Regions Tea Auction on 26 / 27 April

Oodoowerre Estate

In the Uva High Grown category an invoice of Oodoowerre Estate FBOPF1 achieved a highest ever price for this grade by achieving Rs. 1,880 per kg. This tea was purchased by Ranfer Teas Ltd.

Oodoowerre Estate is owned by Hapugastenne Plantations PLC, a member of the LOLC Group and managed by Shammi Upendra.

Verellapatna Estate 

Two invoices of Uvakellie FBOPF1 produced from Verellapatna Estate realised a price of Rs. 1,880 per kg which is an all-time record. This tea was purchased by Ranfer Teas Ltd. 

Verellapatna Estate is a part of Madulsima Plantations PLC, a member of the Melsta Crop. Manager of this estate is Mervin Ratnadasa.

Glen Alpin Estate

In the Uva Medium category an invoice of Glen Alpin BOP1 sold at a record price of Rs. 2,500 per kg. The previous record of this tea was Rs. 2,250 per kg. This tea was purchased by Vintage Teas Ltd.

At the same time this estate’s FBOP sold at a record price of Rs. 2,400 per kg, which equalled to the previous record. This tea was purchased by Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC. Glen Alpin Estate which is under the stewardship of Manager Mahendra Pilapitiya and is managed by Balangoda Plantations PLC a member of Melsta Corp.

Meddakande Estate

In the Uva Medium category Maddakande Estate BOP1 realised an all-time record price of Rs. 2,500 per kg. This tea was purchased by Vintage teas Ltd. 

Meddekande Estate is part of Balangoda Plantations PLC, a member of the Melsta Crop, and this estate is managed by Primal Vithanage.

Kalubowitiyana Tea Factory

In the Low Grown category Kalubowiniya estate situated in Matara District an Invoice of CTC PF1 improved its own record of this grade by achieving Rs. 1,980 per kg.  This estate is renowned for producing high quality CTC teas through the year and estate managed by Janaka Thilakaratne. 

Evergreen Tea Factory (Golden Garden)

In the Tippy Small leaf catalogues an invoice of Golden Garden BOP achieved a record price of Rs. 2,350 per kilo, breaking the previous record of Rs. 2,150. This tea was purchased by Shan teas Ltd.

Golden Garden teas are manufactured at Ever Green Tea Factory located in Talgaswela of the Galle district. Golden Garden teas are well-known for their excellent quality teas and is one of the market leaders at the Colombo Tea Auctions. 

This factory comes under Evergreen Group whose board is chaired by Aruna de Silva.  This factory is managed by Group Director Dr. Indika Nallaperuma (Director), Senal de Silva (Director), General Manager, Production Manager Lasantha Alwis, P.A.  Saman Buddika and Factory Manager W.P Susantha.

Teas were sold by Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC.
