The launch event which took place on 6th October at Cinnamon Grand hosted loyal Lassana customers, leaders from the business and banking community, modern trade, hospitality, members from the creator community, heads of media and the nutrition and wellness community. Guests were able to experience a specially curated tasting of the melons and were educated on the nutritional benefits of the Super Fruit and its growth journey.

The melons are cultivated at Lassana Agri’s state-of-the-art soilless greenhouses in Divulapitiya, using advanced agricultural techniques. Every fruit receives meticulous attention throughout its growing journey. The journey of the melon begins with seedlings being placed in sanitised coco peat plugs and are then transferred to sanitised coir bags in Lassana Agri’s greenhouses, where the experienced agronomists will closely monitor and manually pick male flowers to pollinate the female flowers.

To achieve exceptional sweetness, texture and size, each vine is nurtured and managed by their expert agronomists, retaining only a single fruit on the vine, allowing the plant to concentrate its nutrients into one perfectly ripened melon. From a total monthly production of 30 tonnes, only a selection of the most perfectly ripened premium melons are specially packaged into the elegant gift boxes.

Rich in vitamins A and C, antioxidants, dietary fibre and natural hydration, Japanese Cantaloupe and Honeydew melons are increasingly recognised as super fruits that support healthy living.
