Kamarangapitiya Tea Factory situated in Sabaragamuwa Province achieved a record-breaking all-time price of Rs. 10,000 per kg for a FBOPFExSp1 at the weekly Tea Auctions held on 28/29 June 2022. This is the first time ever in the history of the Colombo Tea Auctions that a line of tea has achieved Rs. 10,000 per kg and is a noteworthy achievement.

Established 11 years ago, Kamarangapitiya Tea Factory is a subsidiary of Asiri Group and a family business in its second generation.

With a green leaf handling capacity of 15,000 kg per day, Kamarangapitiya manufactures over 1 million kg of made tea annually with the best quality green leaves collected from lush fields atop the mountains in Pelmadulla, Rakwana and Balangoda. Together with generations of family traditions and state-of-the-art technology, Kamarangapitiya Tea Factory has been able to sustain the livelihood of over 3,500 tea smallholder families.

This historically remarkable achievement is owing to the spirited efforts and dedication by Chairman Y.C. Weerasena, Director Jayanga Weerasena and their team, while their passion for tea manufacture has elevated Kamarangapitya products and processes to maintain the highest standards.

This line of tea was sold and marketed by Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd.
