The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Sweden hosted a Ceylon Tea promotion event under the theme “Ceylon Tea Voyage: Flavours: Artisans: Pairing” on 26 January at the Embassy premises. 
The event was organised in partnership with Sri Lanka Tea Board, Ceylon Artisanal Tea Association (CATA) and Tekompaniet, the official representative in Sweden of the premium Ceylon tea brand “Dilmah”.
The ‘Ceylon Tea Voyage’ was attended by members of the leading hoteliers, representatives of tea retail, food and beverages and hospitality industry sector in Sweden.
Welcoming the participants, the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Stockholm Kapila Fonseka highlighted the premium qualities of Ceylon Tea, the sustainable practices followed in its production, and the health benefits it offers to tea drinkers. He invited participants to explore how Ceylon Tea could become part of their business story, noting that Ceylon Tea presents an opportunity to partner with a globally respected origin and deliver real value to consumers who care about what they buy and where it comes from.
Representing the Sri Lanka Tea Board, Geedari Walpita delivered a virtual presentation on markedly different flavour profiles of Ceylon Tea based on Sri Lanka’s seven varied tea growing regions. She also explained the Ceylon tea’s global standing as a premium tea brand with its own lion logo.
Representing CATA, CATA Chairman Simon Bell, AMBA Estate Production Manager Neethanjana Senadheera, Kaley Tea Founder Udena Wickramasuriya and Forest Hill Tea Founder Buddika Dissanyaka also joined the event virtually and presented about exquisite, sustainably-sourced Sri Lankan teas highlighting the unique flavours from specific regions, the expertise of artisanal tea makers, and about their commitment to ethical practices.
To the delight of the participants, ‘Tekompaniet’, the official representative of the premium Ceylon tea brand “Dilmah” in Sweden, presented a unique Ceylon Tea and food pairing session. This experience showcased the versatility of Ceylon tea and its ability to perfectly balance with carefully curated Swedish cuisine. The participants were also treated to an authentic selection of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to introduce Ceylon tea to some leading Swedish hotels and businesses demonstrating how tea can transcend borders, infusing cultural connection with culinary innovation.
