Browns Plantations has secured 13 accolades across sustainability, operational excellence, and leadership in 2025, marking one of the most decorated years in its corporate journey.
Conferred by both locally and globally renowned institutions, these honours collectively emphasise Browns Plantations’ position as a responsible, future-focused, and sustainability-driven enterprise within the plantation sector.
At the Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards 2025, Browns Plantations received accolades for Sustainable Preservation of Biodiversity, Sustainable Future Leadership, Sustainability Business Leadership, and Sustainable Technology. These awards underscore the company’s ability to integrate conservation, governance compliance, and digital transformation into its core business model, positioning sustainability as a strategic driver rather than a parallel initiative.
At the People’s Excellency Awards 2025, Browns Plantations was named Eco-Conscious Plantation of the Year, under a structured evaluation framework that recognises excellence in both public and private sector performance.
Alongside this recognition, Browns Plantations Executive Chairman Dr. Pradeep Uluwaduge was honoured with the Excellence in Sustainable Leadership Award for his extensive work in sustainability.
Further, recognition followed at the Purawasi Abhiman Sinhawalokanaya 2025 Awards, where Browns Plantations received the Sustainable Business Leadership Excellence accolade for its commitment to national development through responsible enterprise. At the Asia Awards 2025 in Kerala, India, Browns Plantations earned regional acclaim with Asia’s Sustainable Transformation Award, Asia’s Plantation Operational Excellence Award, and Asia’s Most Environmentally Responsible Company Award, while Dr. Uluwaduge was named Asia’s Chairman of the Year, reinforcing both his strategic leadership and the company’s growing regional presence in environmental stewardship and operational excellence. In a noteworthy achievement, Hapugastenne Plantations, an estate under Browns Plantations, became the first plantation in the world to be issued the Control Union Deforestation-Free Standard (DFS) certification by Control Union Certifications B.V., the Netherlands. This certification acknowledges and verifies Browns Plantations as a deforestation-free supply chain in compliance with global regulations, which includes EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). This pioneering milestone positions Browns Plantations as a global benchmark for sustainable agriculture practices, while ensuring access to premium international markets.
Dr. Uluwaduge said that the company’s innate drive and the passion for a sustainability-based business strategy have brought it to where it is today. He emphasised that their journey in pursuit of continuous success will remain anchored around environmental, social and governance (ESG)-related compliances and accountability. He added that, as the global leader in tea production, Browns Plantations recognises the mammoth onus vested on it to lead by example in creating real value across all the above three verticals.
Browns Plantations continues to fortify its sustainability vision through its progressive leadership, operational discipline, and technological advancement, remaining committed to shaping and transforming a resilient and future-ready plantation industry.
