CAL Launches Islamic Money Market Fund

Shariah-compliant investment solution offers daily liquidity and transparent returns

Capital Alliance Limited (CAL), Sri Lanka's leading investment bank, has launched the CAL Islamic Money Market Fund, a Shariah-compliant money market fund. The open-ended investment scheme provides retail and corporate investors with ethical, compliant exposure to money-market instruments screened under approved Shariah principles.

The fund invests exclusively in products that are overseen by committees that ensure they are Shariah compliant .

Investment Focus

The CAL Islamic Money Market Fund invests exclusively in Shariah-compliant instruments with a maturity period of less than 397 calendar days, including:

  • Listed corporate Sukuk
  • Shariah-compliant commercial papers issued by listed or rated corporate entities
  • Asset-backed Shariah-compliant securities issued by listed or rated corporate entities
  • Savings and term deposits on the basis of Mudarabah, Wakala, or other Shariah-compliant structures approved by the Shariah Advisory Committee

All investments under Shariah-compliant commercial papers and asset-backed securities are made in issuers with a minimum rating of BBB- and above.

Regulatory Framework

The fund is fully regulated under the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), subject to the rules of the CIS Code promulgated by the Commission.

Accessing the Fund

Existing CAL Unit Trust account holders can add the Islamic Money Market Fund to their portfolio through the investor portal. New investors can select the fund when creating their account.
