World Youth Conference 2014 a proud moment for Sri Lankan youth

The international youth conference will be held in Sri Lanka from 6 to 10 May 2014 and the inaugural function of this international forum will be held at the Magam Ruhunupura international conference hall in Hambantota on 7 May under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapakse. This is the first ever time that a youth conference of this magnitude is being held in an Asian country with the participation 152 youth from Sri Lanka and more than 1,500 youth representatives from 196 countries will attend this conference. Minister Dallas Alahapperuma and parliamentarian Namal Rajapakse will function as the co-chairmen of this conference. District Rotaract Committee Chairman 2013/14 Rotary International District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives and Youth Service Director of Rotary Club of Colombo North Rtn. P.P. Marshad Barry commenting on this conference said, “Sri Lankan youth are well capable to handle any kind of challenge and task given to them and convinced everyone around the world that they can play an active role in the decision-making of local, national and global levels. It’s indeed great to see after over three decades of cruel war, under His Excellency  President Mahinda Rajapakse this kind of conference is encouraged in our country to give an excellent opportunity to the youth of Sri Lanka.”
