Three students have obtained 195 marks each and won first place in the Grade Five scholarship examination. Students of Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya, Dodangoda Miriswatta Balika Vidyalaya and Kekirawa Muslim Maha Vidyalaya had achieved this feat.

This is also the first time that a student from the exam in Tamil medium had secured highest marks.

The three students are Oshadhee Fonseka of Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya, Nethmi Ranaweera of Miriswatta Maha Vidualaya, Dodangoda and Naleem Ahamed from Muslim Maha Vidyalayam Kekirawa.

Two students with 194 marks each have become second. They are Lakshitha Sumanapala of Medagama Maha Vidyalaya, Bibile and Rameshwaram Seduragawan of Neththilayaru Tamil Maha Vidyalaya of West Vishwamadu. This is also the first time that a student from the Mulativu District has taken highest marks after liberation of the district from the terrorists.

Three students have come to the third place.

They Are Dilini Nibandi of Hakuruwela Uday Maha Vidyalaya, Sahid Zeinab Sultana of Al Aksa Muslim Vidyalaya, Polgahawela and Kavindya Kitmini Weerasinghe of Dehigolla Vidyalaya, Mahiyangana. They have secured 193 marks each.

The Commissioner General of Examination Anura Edirisinghe said that this is the first time that the results had been released in a short period of 20 days.

A total of 321,421 students sat for the exam and out of them 30,000 have been selected.

It is significant all these students who have obtained the highest marks are from schools are located out of Colombo, and the age-old myth of best education in Colombo schools has been disproved by these results.
