Unilever Sri Lanka (USL) recognises the Job Fair at EDEX Mid-Year Expo as a great initiative for students and young job seekers to explore their options whilst looking for the right job.
Unilever Sri Lanka is pleased to be the principal Job Fair sponsor for the event as USL views the event as a valuable opportunity to tap in to a diverse pool of qualified and talented youth seeking their dream job.
Why Unilever?
Unilever Sri Lanka (USL) provides employment to approximately 5,000 people, directly and indirectly, each and every one of whom they take immense pride in. USL invests in the personal development and professional growth of its employees.
The company prides itself in providing opportunities to different sets of people to experience Unilever Sri Lanka in meaningful ways – through its flagship programs viz. Unilever Leaders Internship Programme, Unilever Future Leaders (Management Trainee) Programme, as well as to budding students through a unique business case competition called Unilever Challenge. Speaking about the variety of opportunities, Director Human Resources and Corporate Relations Udayan Dutt, said, “At Unilever Sri Lanka, we are on a continuous journey to identify the best talent who have the potential and desire to become future leaders at Unilever. All our programs, internship, management trainee and business case competition provide us a unique opportunity to attract such talent at the beginning of their careers. We also have a robust mid career hiring program where we look to get experienced professionals to join Unilever and enrich the organisation with their varied exposure and perspectives gained at other great organisations.”
Providing an international experience begins by joining Unilever Sri Lanka – on portfolios, processes, using tools and in a working environment with best in class employment practices that compares with the best that Unilever has to offer globally. This is taken to a different level through providing international careers to our local hires. Many of our managers gained significant exposure through international assignments – over one third of our middle to senior management have been on international assignments, and bring their insights and knowledge right back to Sri Lanka.
Supply Chain Intern Aruna Patirage, now a Management Trainee says, “Completing an internship with Unilever Sri Lanka was a whole different experience in itself – the journey will entrust you with an ongoing business case which can create a difference to the entire network. Working at Unilever provides you with an entire network of mentors and leaders who will help mould you to become who you aspire to be.”
Unilever Sustainable Living Plan
At Unilever, they believe that it is their responsibility to make a positive contribution to their society. The Unilever Sustainable Living Plan sets out to ensure we grow responsibly, putting an emphasis on the environmental impact of our growth and increasing our positive social impact. It is Unilever’s view that sustainable growth is the only acceptable business model.
Hiring talent who are passionate about creating such positive change is crucial to Unilever Sri Lanka and its growth ambition. Human Resources Management Trainee Ayisha Fazim says, “Unilever being an academy in itself, my learning journey commenced from day one into UFLP, through the richness of the knowledge around me locally and globally. It was thrilling to be continuously challenged, and the effort put towards the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan amazed me, as you could see that the ambition of making sustainable living commonplace is embedded in the company’s culture.”
Unilever & diversity
Unilever is a company that believes in equal opportunity, and also strongly believes in a diverse work force, which focuses on gender, race, religion, nationality, and a variety of different beliefs and backgrounds.
Unilever Sri Lanka lives by the principles of diversity and inclusion and works to embed these firmly into their day-to-day business decisions via our talent management and people processes. USL is the only leading company which has in place and in store for aspiring talent many initiatives on the diversity agenda which include career breaks, maternity and paternity support with maternity leave up to six months, adoption leave equivalent to the maternity and paternity leave and in house crèche facility which helps them achieve this goal.
