Sri Lanka Insurance calls for applications to ‘Suba Pathum’ scholarship scheme

Sri Lanka Insurance is now calling for applications from the Grade five students who have excelled at the scholarship exam held in August 2014 under the ‘Suba Pathum’ scholarship scheme. Sri Lanka Insurance launched this unique scholarship scheme in June last year in an effort to nurture an academically sound generation. This is the second batch of grade five students who will be awarded scholarships under the scheme. Out of the applications received under the Sri Lanka Insurance ‘Suba Pathum’ scheme, the four top ranking students from each district will be selected totalling to 100 students. A scholarship award of Rs. 20,000 will be awarded to each student as a lump sum payment. If the student’s parents or the guardian is a Sri Lanka Insurance Life Policy Holder the benefit will be offered for a continuous period as an annual payment until the child faces the next national level examination, hence there is a long term benefit for Sri Lanka Insurance Life Policy holders through this scheme. The applications are available at all SLIC branches islandwide and can be downloaded from the SLIC Web site. The applications will be taken in to consideration till 31 December 2013. Applications are called prior to this date to the address mentioned in the application form to qualify for the “Suba Pathum” Scholarship scheme. Under the ‘Suba Pathum’ Scheme the top four district level ranking students of the G.C.E. (O/L) will receive a lump sum of Rs. 40,000 each and top 100 students who excel at national level at the G.C.E. (A/L) examination comprising of 25 top ranking students each from the streams Bio, Mathematics, Commerce and Arts will receive a lump sum of Rs. 50,000 each, with the benefit continuing  as an annual payment until the child faces the next national level examination if the parent or the guardian in a Sri Lanka Insurance Life Insurance policy holder. The applications for the G.C.E. (O/L) and A/L students will be called for in the future. The scheme was in from 2013 onwards.
