SLIM carries out induction of SLIM Bucks MBA intake

The induction of the new intake for the SLIM Bucks MBA of Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) took place recently at SLIM Home with the participation of senior academic officials from Buckinghamshire New University.

SLIM Bucks MBA Course Leader Dr. Christine Parsons and Buckinghamshire New University Senior Lecturer Lucia Ingham conducted the induction. They provided a comprehensive briefing on the MBA, comprising of a blackboard session, critical thinking, referencing and practical work on assignments. The newly introduced two day, two step induction program is an outcome of the close relationship the university maintains with SLIM to ensure an international quality delivery of the program. Rochelle Jayawardene and Chamarie Serasinghe were the representatives from SLIM.The session gave students an idea of the uniqueness of the SLIM Bucks MBA in comparison with other MBA programs in Sri Lanka and the efforts SLIM have taken to ensure that students receive facilities and content of international standards. SLIM President Kalana Rathnayaka in his statement congratulated the new students: “An MBA of this kind will empower individuals to serve our nation and work towards its development. I congratulate the new students and wish them the best during their study at SLIM and beyond.” SLIM Vice President Ruwan Liyanagamage spoke of the overseas collaboration which is available to local students: “We have taken great efforts to make available the knowledge and expertise of the finest lecturers of the University for Sri Lankan students. This will ensure that the delivery of the programme is consistent with the standards established in the UK,” he said. SLIM CEO/Executive Director Sanath Senanayake commented on the decision of the students to study with SLIM: “SLIM provides many value additions for the students of this programme in order to provide them with a similar learning experience to students in the UK. Therefore the decision made by the new students in selecting SLIM Bucks MBA is certainly a prudent one.” The SLIM/Bucks MBA is unique due to the facilities it offers such as the technologically advanced Blackboard Feature and the E-library facility. It is also inimitable because time conscious students can communicate directly with lecturers from the university even while travelling. Thelecture notes and module designing are done directly from UK. Furthermore, SLIM provides an expert panel of local lecturers to guide students through the entire program and parallel lecturing is offered for the dissertation. As there is a limited number of students in a class, individual attention is paid for each student.
