SLIIT ties up with Canada’s Algoma University

SLIIT and Algoma University – Canada recently entered into a partnership to provide SLIIT’s Information Technology students the opportunity to transfer to Algoma University to complete the Bachelor of Computer Science degree programs. Joanne Elvy Director – International Student Outreach, Algoma University and Professor Lalith Gamage, President/CEO of SLIIT exchanged the agreement on behalf of the two institutes. Algoma University, located in Ontario, Canada, has been offering internationally recognised undergraduate degrees for liberal arts and science programs for over 40 years. Encapsulating a close-knit community and diverse learning environment located within picturesque surroundings, Algoma University exposes students to myriad cultural, social and outdoor activities. Algoma’s small class sizes, competitive fees, internship opportunities, interactive learning and integrated academic support make this university a valuable choice for those seeking leadership opportunities and success in their chosen career paths. The partnership with SLIIT will allow students to pursue the following programs at Algoma University; Bachelor of Science in Business Systems Management and Computer Games Technology and Computer Games Technology/Creative Arts. Algoma University is the only Canadian university to offer degrees in computer games technology, providing students with targeted training in design and programming elements of computer games. This four year program will give students a strong edge in the exciting and highly competitive world of computer game software engineering. “This educational partnership will create a seamless transfer process for our students to transfer from the SLIIT Information Technology Degree program to Algoma University’s Bachelor of Computer Science degree program,” explained Professor S. Karunaratne, Chairman of SLIIT.
