SLIIT recently hosted the National Conference on Technology and Management (NCTM) at its Malabe campus.
The conference, held for the second year by SLIIT, is a forum for academics and industry professionals in the spheres of IT, engineering and management to identify key issues and contribute towards the betterment of the relevant industries.
SLIIT also published a collection of high quality research papers of the conference proceedings, with the aim of driving further research and technology improvements in these sectors.
Keynote speakers at the conference were Professor Sampath Amaratunga – Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce at University of Sri Jayawardenapura and Dr. Alan Holloway – SeniorLecturer, Faculty of Art, Computing, Engineering and Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University, UK.
Noteworthy projects submitted for the conference include ‘A Local Area Content Delivery Network with Web Prefetching’ by L.R. Ariyasinghe, C. Wickramasinghe, P. M. A. B Samarakoon, U.B.P Perera, R.A. Prabhath Buddhika and M.N. Wijesundara from SLIIT, ‘Vision Based Non-Invasive Tool for Facial Swelling Assessment’ by Dona N.A. Jayamaha, Peshala C. Amarasingha, Kuganesan Thanansan, Sivalingarajan Ajanthan and Chathura D. Silva from the University of Moratuwa, and ;Does Green Market focus Learning matter in achieving Sustainable Competitive Advantage? Empirical Evidence from the Sri Lankan Hotel Industry’ by G.D. Samarasinghe from the University of Moratuwa and F.J. Ahsan from the University of Colombo. The main sponsors for the event were IFS Ltd. and SLIIT’s long-standing academic partner, Sheffield Hallam University. The proceedings of the conference were sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
