SLIIT Computing and University of Keele UK to conduct MSc in Project Management

SLIIT Computing, a subsidiary of SLIIT, steps into a new frontier with the prestigious University of Keele UK, to give students the opportunity to follow a world class Master’s Degree program in Project Management. Applications for the one year Masters program closed on 28 September and classes will commence on the second week of October. The MSc in Project Management is designed to meet growing industry demands that encompass competencies, skills and knowledge required for most management roles today. Combined with University of Keele’s academic expertise and curriculum, this advanced degree caters to all project management disciplines teaching the skills and competencies to make the student an asset to any sector across the globe. Celebrating over 50 years of university status, the University of Keele is ranked amongst the top 3% of universities worldwide and is currently ranked 29th in the prestigious Sunday Times University League. “The MSc course brings together components from the School of Computing, Mathematics and the Keele Management School. The curriculum has been structured to provide students with the technical and process skills to undertake the role of a project manager in the modern business environment. In addition to covering all project management areas as defined in the Project Management Book of Knowledge, the course will provide the soft skills required in team building and people management,” said University of Keele Lecturer/MSc Course Director Steve Linkman. He further elaborated that the eligibility requirements include a Bachelors Degree in any field or substantial years of work experience will also be considered. “The taught modules are mainly assessed by coursework, with examinations in some of the modules. As a component of the program, students are required to do a dissertation or internship which is based largely on a substantial final report. This holistic approach to learning will enable participants to be the difference, while not only focusing on the academic and theoretical aspects but also applying their knowledge in real world cases,” explained SLIIT Dean International Dr. Mahesha Kapurubandara. The practical discipline will prepare students to become successful Project Mangers enabling them to balance the conflicting goals of resource usage, the accurate time to market and customer satisfaction.
