The Sri Lanka Foundation (SLF) the centre for leadership, education and training in Sri Lanka incorporated under the Sri Lanka Foundation Law No.31 of 1973 is under the direct purview of the presidential secretariat and is managed by a board chaired by Prof. Ranjith Bandara. The National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) has been established under part II of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Act No. 20 of 1990 as the successor to the National Apprenticeship Board (NAB) incorporated under the National Apprenticeship Act no. 49 of 1971. According to an MOU signed between two parties a couple of months back, both parties intend to create a forum to pool shared resources and interests of both Institutions to work together towards useful management of resources in order to enhance the mandated objectives of both institutions. Both institutions will work towards a mutually beneficial situation with both parties using each other’s facilities or resources. It is expected to build up links nationally and internationally and enable both institutions to equate and validate their own training courses and educational programs using each other’s credentials. The SLF is to conceptualise new or tailor-made programs at NAITA in its computer labs and training centres located around Sri Lanka. NAITA is in a new drive under the chairmanship of M. Chandana Arunadeva towards producing professional competent knightmen or leaders to workplaces in the respective disciplines. This will help further to enhance the earned reputation of NAITA to the next level. At the same time, the SLF as the centre for leadership, education and training in Sri Lanka is very much pleased to take this partnership forward with its set of new initiatives. The SLF is making its mark in the education industry as an emerging institute and made the year 2013 as a benchmark for its academic programs. Language and ICT Unit of SLF conducts this tailor-made program for the staff of NAITA to enhance their English language skills. SLF has conducted similar programs for leading institutions in the private and public sector.
