Raffles Australian International Bachelor of Design launched in Sri Lanka

Raffles Colombo in Sri Lanka will offer the Raffles College of Design and Commerce (RCDC) Bachelor of Design degree, with specialisations in fashion design, interior design and multimedia design, commencing 30 September 2013. In addition, for the first time, Raffles Colombo will also offer a one-year Foundation Program for O/Level students who are interested in pursuing degree programs in design. These new offerings will help students jump start a career in the international design industry. The RCDC Bachelor of Design degree complies with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), is accredited by the Australian Government through the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), and is recognised by all Australian universities. RCDC is registered with the Australian Government’s Department of Tertiary Education and the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). Degrees awarded by RCDC are also recognised internationally through articulation agreements. In fact, many RCDC Bachelor and Master degree graduates, as well as Raffles Colombo Advanced Diploma graduates, have been enrolled in universities in the United Kingdom and the United States for further studies. Addressing the audience at a media conference to announce the new degree program, Prof. Graeme Britton, Vice President of Raffles University System, said, “We are pleased to launch the Australian RCDC Bachelor of Design degree in Sri Lanka. Raffles Colombo maintains the highest standards in education, with strict adherence to the standards regulated by the education framework of Australia. The Foundation Program will prepare O/Level students for their degree studies in design.” Raffles Colombo provides students with a creative and enriching learning environment and state-of-the-art facilities. These include student administrative services and counseling, a student governing body, international lecturers, a quality-based delivery structure, and internal and external benchmarking. The campus is equipped with fashion design equipment, design studios, Mac and PC labs, student facilities, and a library. Students can gain international experience through exchange programs at any other college within the Raffles network, which spans 34 colleges in 31 cities across 12 countries. Raffles Colombo is registered in Sri Lanka as Raffles Design Institute Ltd., and is the local arm of Raffles Education Corporation Ltd., a reputable education provider listed on the Mainboard of the Singapore Exchange.
