Reflecting its unwavering commitment to promote the well being of the country’s youth, the pioneering state bank, People’s Bank marked its presence at the World Conference on Youth (WCY) which took place from 6 to 10 May 2014 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, located within the BMICH premises in Colombo by setting up a special exhibition stall at the venue which served as a platform to educate the participants at the Conference on the role played by the bank in supporting the Government in its progressive developmental initiatives.
The 15th World Conference on Youth brought together youth from every continent and region on the globe; a total of 1,500 young people representing different countries and groups identified as being conventionally unrepresented or under-represented, thus affording them a forum to have their voices heard.
The People’s Bank stall which had been attractively designed in keeping with the Conference theme drew the attention of a large number of Sri Lankan and foreign youth who were present at the exhibition.
Many made it a point to visit the stall in order to learn about the latest banking products and services that have been launched by the Bank with a view to facilitating efficient and convenient banking. They were not only impressed by the convenience offered through online banking but also enrolled in the People’s Mobile Banking Service, reflecting the confidence they have placed on the state banking giant, the People’s Bank.
During this promotion, the bank also opened many YES Savings Accounts; the special savings product that is dedicated to the country’s youth population. In addition, many special banking products such as the People’s Wisdom Education Loans, People’s Professional Loans – a product that caters to the professional community and People’s Auto Loans – a loan that fulfills ones dream to own a vehicle of their own were also introduced during this special campaign.
