Today, supply chains have become increasingly complex due to their interlinked global nature which presents new challenges to operations managers, purchasing professionals and many others involved in its design and production. This requires professionals in the industry to develop leaner and more productive supply chains and be proficient in all the aspects of the process.
ISCEA (International Supply Chain Education Alliance) meets these requirements and shares the relevant knowledge and insight into the supply chain process. Being head quartered in USA, ISCEA programs are steadily increasing in acceptance by the global industry as the certification that covers the Total Supply Chain Operation and has offices in North America, Latin America, Asia, North Africa, Middle East and Europe.
ISCEA has now entered into a strategic partnership with NEXT Institute of Supply Chain Management making these globally recognised qualifications available for Sri Lankan students and conduct ISCEA classes as well as exams locally. NEXT, a premier education institute in Sri Lanka has built its reputation as the leading Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK) study centre in Sri Lanka. Additionally NEXT also offers the much sought after General MBA program from Mahatma Gandhi University and several undergraduate programs.
The Certified Supply Chain Manager (CSCM) program is an intensive Supply Chain certification program which provides a coordinated approach to study the step by step flow of goods and services from raw material suppliers to the completed product offered to the customer. Participants will learn to apply the acquired knowledge of all the functional components of the supply chain to manage it with the industries best practices. They will also learn to apply knowledge of forecasting and inventory management theories and methodologies, be educated in planning, implementation, evaluation and problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and apply the basics of sales and marketing functions and their interrelationship within the supply chain.
In addition the course will also cover topics such as Leadership, Lean Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and Operational Accounting. The program is ideal for those who are in the field of supply chain management or those who have P&L responsibilities of which Supply Chain is a function. ISCEA’s 100,000+ members currently hold mid to upper level supply chain management positions in global 2000 companies.
NEXT Programs Director Kumudu Abeyawardane commented, “Next Institute of Supply Chain Management jointly with Accenture Global Consultant, presented the Colombo Supply Chain forum in January 2013. During the forum we understood the need for Supply Chain qualifications in Sri Lanka and we hope the tie up with ISCEA will fill the void for internationally recognised Supply Chain Qualifications for Sri Lankans. In addition to the CSCM certification, NEXT also offers the Post Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain Management (PGDSCM) awarded by ISCEA. This is a comprehensive one year (part time) program and will be taught by some of the Industry’s best practitioners.”
Abeyawardane went on to add, “There are only two globally recognised supply chain certifications in the world and we are proud to be associated with one of them. While ISCEA Certification will cost as much as $ 2,200 if done in Singapore or Hong Kong, the same will be offered by us at a much lesser investment. This is a special concession granted by ISCEA USA to the first few programs of ISCEA to be held in Colombo. The faculty for the CSCM workshop is flown in from overseas specially to conduct this program and comprises of specialists in Supply Chain Management with a tremendous amount of industry experience.”
The first batch of CSCM completed their program in 2013. The participants comprised from reputed companies such as Unilever, Hemas, Dialog Axiata, Lion Brewery and Fonterra. The next CSCM certification program will be held in February 2014. For further information visit www.next.lk.
