The annual New Zealand Education Fair concluded on a positive note at the Hilton Colombo recently with over 400 participants assembling together for an interaction with representatives from a wide array of accredited educational institutes based in New Zealand.

The annually conducted education fair has, over the past years, served as a platform to provide an insight into New Zealand’s educational prospects in tertiary education available in the country.

Featuring a range of reputed institutions offering British based qualifications, New Zealand is the right choice in terms of selecting a university to pursue one’s higher studies.

Students can apply to any of eight top quality universities and 20 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) that focus on practical, skills- oriented training in areas such as hospitality and tourism, design, computers, nursing, fashion and many others.

With neatly-sized classrooms, students are assured of receiving personalized attention while the courses offered involve practical training, enabling students to adapt to the skills and subsequently to their relevant industries with more ease.

Business Development Manager for Education New Zealand, Jugnu Roy commenting on the success of the event said, “We initiated the New Zealand Education Fair with the objective of opening a forum for students to meet with institution representatives annually, to get a preview into the kind of opportunities available to them in their respective fields of interest. There was an excellent response to this year’s Education Fair, which is definitely encouraging, and demonstrates the interest among Sri Lankan students to pursue their higher studies in New Zealand.”

She added: “Students in Sri Lanka are very well tuned into the international education curriculum post O/Ls and A/Ls, so they tend to adapt well to the transition from the local curriculum to a different education system in New Zealand. Once a student has completed their course, they can get a 12 month job search visa, during or after which if they get a job in the area of their study they can apply for a two year work permit.”

Roy further elaborated on the range of opportunities in engineering, hospitality, biotechnology, viticulture, etc., are available for Sri Lankans.

Education New Zealand is a non-profit trust committed to the export of New Zealand’s education services offshore, and is governed by the New Zealand export education industry.
