Lyceum International School marked its 22nd Founder’s Day recently with a special assembly held at the school’s Nugegoda branch.

The occasion coincided with the birthday of its founder, Mohan Lal Grero. Lyceum’s Founder’s Day commemorated the school’s achievements along with the far-sighted vision and untiring efforts of its founder in helping elevate it to its present level.

Mr. Grero, Coordinating Principal Kumari Grero, Principal Wenuri Hettiarachchi, academic and non-academic staff as well as past and present pupils of the school graced the occasion.

Speaking at the event, Grero said: “Lyceum is a non-profit-making organisation. Nobody has taken a single cent as profit. If there is a surplus it will be a contribution to the development of education in this country. In 1993 we had a humble beginning with only seven students. Where are we today? Our student population has grown to 18,000, spread across eight branches. Our ambition and determination was to dedicate ourselves to developing education and knowledge in this country; to help out the four million students in Sri Lanka.”

Grero presented awards to the members of Lyceum’s staff who have extended their cooperation throughout the years in helping the school achieve its high level of quality and success.
