Lasitha Madurawala from Lyceum International Wattala becomes the latest student placed by Scholarships for USA Ltd. (SUSA) at a US university with a generous scholarship and credit transfers based on his Cambridge A/Ls. Lasitha plans to major in Business.

When Lasitha forwarded his CV  SUSA was able to attract nine offers from four public universities and five private ones from eight States varying from sunny Hawai’i to cold North Dakota (and many in between) within a record time and each with competing scholarships, credit transfers saving time from one semester to full academic year, part-time work and summer internships. If Lasitha approached SUSA wondering which partnering school of SUSA would accept him for spring ‘16 now his predicament was selecting which one as each offered more attractive terms than the next. Having carefully examined each he settled on Truman State for its renowned quality of education, most affordable cost and the advanced placement recognising his sterling academic performance at A/Ls.

SUSA’s partnership with Truman State began in ‘11 and has been growing steadily with placement of brilliant achievers each year. Established in 1867 and named after the only Missourian to become a President of US, Truman State has been ranked as the No. 1 Public University in the Midwest for 17 consecutive years; ranked 12th on Kiplinger’s list of the 100 ‘Best Values in Public Colleges’; ranked 9th in the nation for the best out-of-state value; is one of only 27 Public Liberal Arts and Sciences Universities in North America. And as per Rob Franek author ‘The Princeton Review’s Best Value Colleges’ Truman is the Harvard of the Midwest.

Sri Lanka is among the top 7 countries where 361 students from 45 countries are currently studying at Truman. With an average class size of 24 students and with 16:1 Student-to Faculty Ratio every student is getting the best attention at all times.

SUSA’s partnership with the Lyceum Group of International Schools began in ‘07 with the placing of Rusitha Ukwatte (Nugegoda) at North Dakota State University (NDSU). Since then SUSA has assisted many of its scholars from Head Prefects and Island-Best Result achievers to average students to gain entry into scores of schools and always with scholarships and many other benefits.

When asked for Lasitha’s comments on SUSA’s performance he said: “They were introduced by a friend of my mom who had obtained SUSA’s assistance in placing her son many years ago and she had nothing but highest praise for them. Had I not obtained their guidance (and tried doing it on my own) I would have never been able to attract so many sterling offers in such a short time. And I never thought I could enter the spring semester as I first contacted SUSA in mid-September but by the beginning of October I had accepted Truman’s offer and had submitted the application too.

“I never felt I was dealing with a business entity as the Uncle and Aunty were so passionately engrossed in getting me across with the minimum hassle and in the shortest possible time. To me they were always an additional pair of parents and the fee I had paid them was fully justified for a sterling service, always reliable and with absolute commitment. I have no hesitation to recommend them to anyone.”

SUSA, a creation by two parents based on the experiences of own children is passionately committed to make US college education increasingly affordable to the Lankan middle class and during the past 14 years of existence has placed over 300 academics across the island from bachelors up to doctoral.
