The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL), the pioneering and the national accounting body of Sri Lanka is geared to embark on yet another ‘first’ in the accounting field.

In collaboration with the University of Cambridge (ESOL), the Institute is now ready to make available an international qualification right here in Sri Lanka.

The Cambridge International Certificate in Financial English (ICFE) will be within the reach of Sri Lankan finance and accountancy professionals very soon, commencing from 27 February 2011.

The Cambridge ICFE is an internationally recognised course consisting of 75% online learning with a 25% lecturer contact component for aspiring professionals to take them to greater heights in their career.

This blended learning brings candidates the combined advantages of the convenience of online programme and the hands-on benefits of classroom learning. It is poised to have a great impact in the field of finance and accounting and validates first-rate English language skills and the ability to converse with finance and accounting professionals throughout the international business community.

A team of six English language lecturers from leading universities in the country having a wealth of experience in corporate training and skills development will conduct the classroom sessions.

The lecturers who are well qualified in designing and delivering ESP (English for Specific Purposes) courses have been hand-picked by the Institute for the challenging task of grooming students to take up the end of course exam successfully within a short period like two months.

The British Council with whom ICASL is in partnership for conducting IELTS has once again joined hands in delivering this course with the Cambridge ICFE exams conducted by them.

Under the guidance of  the Country Examinations Manager, Kishore Roy and master training facilitated by Examiner Professional Support Manager, Philip Bebb have provided a comprehensive teacher training programme that has made all the ICASL lecturers well equipped with the mastery of  necessary skills to launch the course on 27 February 2011.

With the introduction of Cambridge ICFE, Finance and accounting professionals can look forward to obtaining an international professional qualification from one of the world’s most  prestigious universities in Sri Lanka itself.
