Keeping in line with its vision to ‘empower Sri Lankan youth to be globally competitive,’ EDEX – the annual social responsibility project of the Royal College Union – launched a programme themed ‘Live Your Dream,’ aiming to help the aspiring youth and students realise their educational and skills development related dreams that would benefit their communities.

‘EDEX Live Your Dream’ will facilitate accomplishment of projects that can be achieved with minimal resources, irrespective of location in the areas such as fulfilling requirements of school environment to receive quality education, promotion of inventiveness and creativity, soft/technical skills development, vocational training, promotion of green sciences and green energy and recycling or similar practices minimising depletion of natural resources, thereby leading to sustainable living.

EDEX Chairman Kamal Abeysinghe commenting on the ‘EDEX Live Your Dream’ initiative stated: “Everything great starts with a dream, if you are a dreamer with a desire, inspired and energised to serve your community this is a great opportunity to make such dreams come true.

We note that our youth and students conceptualise many dream projects that can be of invaluable benefit to communities they belong to, yet there is little help around them to see them through mainly due to lack of adequate resources ‘EDEX Live Your Dream’ will provide impetus to realise such dreams.”

Abeysinghe added: “It will further enhance resources sharing and innovative idea generation among youth for the benefit of their communities.

We believe that this is also a great opportunity to all corporate citizens and philanthropists to join hands with EDEX to express their civic consciousness and social responsibility.”

Youth and students with potential projects can share their dream idea as a complete project proposal submitted with an application available at www.edex.lk or from the EDEX Secretariat, Royal College Union, Rajakeeya Mawatha, Colombo 7.

Entries will close on 30 November 2011.
