Dulaj Bandara Lansakara (Royal College class of 2010) reached out to Scholarships for USA Ltd., (www.scholarshipsforusa.com), to help him locating an affordable US university to major in 3D Animation. Among many offers SUSA was able to attract for Dulaj he decided on Tusculum College (www.tusculum.edu) in Greeneville Tennessee, the oldest in the state and the 28th oldest in the nation, for its quality, affordability and reputation. TC is a coeducational private college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, commenced in 1794, two years before Tennessee became a state. Andrew Johnson, who later becomes the 17th President of the United States, was one of its trustees. Johnson often walked the five miles (8 kilometres) to and from Greeneville to participate in the debating activities at Tusculum. In the 1860s, During the Civil War, college buildings served as barracks for soldiers. Students who choose the graphic design concentration are introduced to commercial typographic, graphic design, and layout considerations, as well as commercial illustration. The use of computers to produce various publications and to produce layout work and digital artwork is covered. Special consideration is given to the development of skills and ideas relating to the commercial applications of art. Internship opportunities with regional advertising, graphic design, and commercial art businesses are possible as part of our upper level course offerings. Asked about his impressions of TC Dulaj said: “I thank SUSA for introducing me to Tusculum. Yes, I’m highly satisfied with its education. My first impression about USA is that people are really friendly, warm and social life is absolutely fine. Weather is perfect and peaceful and picturesque environment enhances its education. TC is very affordable compared to many other US universities”. “College life is wonderful and I never felt a stranger due to the warmth of TC community. It’s a laid back lifestyle and everything is well organised. School services have helped me in many ways. Tusculum has wide range of sports and events weekly making each weekend more exciting than the other. The food is decent and cafeteria offers wide range of food items including international food. Tusculum in every way is a great school,” Dulaj added. SUSA will continue to assist more Lankans to discover more US schools each year, offering the world’s best higher education at a cost each candidate can afford, in its quest to turning out increasing number of global professionals.
