The 26th graduation ceremony of the DIMO Academy for Technical Skills (DATS) was held recently at the Auditorium of the company’s state of the art Mercedes-Benz Centre; DIMO 800.
Established in 1990, DATS, in cooperation with Daimler AG has provided high quality vocational training to the nation’s youth. Since its inception DATS has provided training free of charge, an unprecedented investment by a private enterprise in Sri Lanka.
History was made when 15 Students from DATS Colombo graduated in Automobile Mechatronics offered for the first time in Sri Lanka. Moreover 10 students from the DATS Jaffna Branch (Established in 2010) also graduated as Automobile Mechanics, while 16 DIMO technical staff members were recognized for their contribution in guiding and mentoring students during their workshop training. Both institutions (DATS Colombo and DATS Jaffna) are certified by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) and follow an up-to-date student centered self-learning concept introduced by Daimler AG. DIMO Chairman and Managing Director Ranjith Pandithage, DIMO Group CEO Gahanath Pandithage, DATS GM Jobst Ferber, DATS Training Manager Eng. Captain Nihal Jayamaha, directors, senior management, parents, as well as DATS staff.
