CBS of CBSL, SEC and ICASL join hands to enhance knowledge of journalists

The Centre for Banking Studies (CBS) of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), the Financial Services Academy (FSA) of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) jointly organised a Certificate Course in Economics, Banking and Finance for Journalists with a view to enhancing knowledge in Economics, Banking and Finance among Sri Lankan Journalists.

 All these institutions wish to offer this programme annually as a joint certificate programme and the first programme was offered in Sinhala medium aiming at Journalists who are working in the Sinhala media.



The subsequent programmes will be offered in English medium as well.

The Inauguration Ceremony of the programme was held on Tuesday, 18 January, 2011 at the Auditorium of the CBS, Rajagiriya where the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal was the Chief Guest. J. P. Mampitiya, Assistant Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka; Malik Cader, Director General of the SEC, Dr. D. B. P. H. Dissa Bandara, Director, FSA of SEC; Sujeewa Mudalige, President, ICASL and Aruna Alwis, CEO of ICASL also graced the occasion.

The welcome address was delivered by U. P. Alawattage, Director, Centre for Banking Studies of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Malik Cadre, Director General of the SEC and Sujeewa Mudalige, President, ICASL also addressed the gathering and the Inaugural Address was delivered by Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
