The BSc. Degree in Applied Accounting offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) continued to break new ground as it received endorsements from leading universities and professional organisations abroad. Documents relating to the partnership being exchanged by CA Sri Lanka President Arjuna Herath and La Trobe Business School Australia Head Prof. Paul R. Mather. CA Sri Lanka Vice President Lasantha Wickramasinghe, CA Sri Lanka CEO Aruna Alwis, CA Sri Lanka School of Accounting and Business (SAB) Director Dr. Tikiri Andarawewa and several senior officials of La Trobe Business School were also present at this occasion One of Australia’s top universities, La Trobe University recently entered into a partnership with CA Sri Lanka which allows students following CA Sri Lanka’s BSc. Degree in Applied Accounting the opportunity to transfer into La Trobe University’s Accounting Degree program. The agreement was signed between representatives of CA Sri Lanka and La Trobe University at a ceremony held in Colombo recently. Speaking on the landmark occasion, Arjuna Herath pointed out that since the degree was launched in 2013, the BSc. Applied Accounting degree has received overwhelming endorsements from abroad. “We are very honoured to partner with La Trobe, which is one of the top universities in Australia. This is undoubtedly an excellent opportunity for our students,” Herath said. He noted that the degree program which completed its third intake recently has registered an overwhelming growth in student registrations including foreign students who are currently following the degree program which has also been recognised by the University Grants Commission. The agreement also paves way for future collaborations between CA Sri Lanka and La Trobe to offer executive education programs for the benefit of CA Sri Lanka members and top corporates in the country. The Head of La Trobe Business School, Professor Paul Mather, said La Trobe University is delighted to partner with one of Sri Lanka’s most reputable professional bodies to provide greater opportunities to Sri Lankan Accounting and Business students. “Our new articulation agreement provides students in CA Sri Lanka’s Applied Accounting degree the potential to transfer into our popular Accounting degree in Australia which we believe will be an enriching experience to these students,” he said. In August this year, one of the world’s largest global accounting bodies, CPA Australia approved the BSc. Applied Accounting degree offered by CA Sri Lanka. The accreditation allows students who have completed the CA Sri Lanka degree programme to gain entry into the CPA Program as an Associate member of CPA Australia.
