Successfully defending the title that it won last year, 99X Technology emerged champions in the IT/software category once again at the Biz Quiz 2014 – Mercantile Quiz Championship held recently, beating out some stiff competition posed by masterminds representing Sri Lanka’s top corporate entities. Apart from coming in first in its respective category, 99X Technology also ranked sixth overall with 25 points. The IT/software category was well represented by some of the leaders of the sector in the country including MillenniumIT, WSO2, Navantis and 99X Services, and proved to be one of the more competitive segments, with MillenniumIT (23 points) and WSO2 (22 points) coming in second and third place respectively. Featuring 48 teams this time around, the companies battled right to the very end, with a mere point separating most from cinching a winning place. People’s Bank was crowned the mercantile quiz champions with 33 points, Seylan Bank came in second with 32 points and Dialog Axiata (A) rounded it off by coming in third with 31 points. 99X Technology was represented by Senior Software Engineers Kalanamith Mannapperuma and Ivantha Senevirathne, Associate Tech Lead Manosha Silva and Process/Management Associate Navaka Navaratne, and were ably captained by Associate Tech Lead Shirantha De Alwis. The quiz team’s win at the Biz Quiz 2014, the first event it participated in for this year, follows a string of successes at various competitions in 2013 including the inaugural Biz Quiz, the QA Wisdom Ultimate Quiz Challenge, organised by the International Quizzing Association in Sri Lanka, and the International Trade, Transport and Logistics Quiz 2013, amongst others. The Biz Quiz, organised by Dashing Events in collaboration with the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and now in its second year, is a corporate quiz competition which brings together the country’s top corporate entities annually to test their knowledge in a wide range of categories. This time around, it was held on 2 February at the Galadari, Colombo and attracted teams from over 40 organisations, all of whom were put to the test during the course of the event. 99X Technology is a software engineering company that specialises in delivering high-end software product development services to independent software vendors (ISVs) worldwide, with a primary focus within the European region.
