World Bank Managing Director calls on President rajapaksa

Visiting World Bank Managing Director Sri Mulyani Indrawati called on President Mahinda Rajapsksa yesterday at President’s House. She is in the country till Monday to find out how the development institution can do more to support Sri Lanka’s progress.

Having arrived on Thursday, Indrawati’s program included meetings with the private sector, civil society representatives, a team from the Opposition, and the media. A trip to the north has been planned as a field visit for Indrawati in order for her to understand the achievements and challenges with regards to resettlement of the displaced persons and the reconstruction agenda. World Bank Country Director Diarietou Gaye and Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera were also at the meeting with the President yesterday – Pic by Chandana Perera
