Wooing UAE direct and equity investors to Sri Lanka

Senior Minister for International Monetary Cooperation Dr. Sarath Amunugama answers a question during the Q&A session of the ceremonial opening of the two-day Destination Sri Lanka Investment Promotion road show organised by Heraymila Securities Ltd.

(HSL) in Dubai on Wednesday at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Others from left are HSL Chief Executive Officer Ravi Abeysuriya, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in UAE Sarath Wijesinghe, Dubai Chamber of Commerce Senior Director Commercial Services Atiq J. Nassib, Heraymila Investments and HSL Managing Director Vinod Krishnan, Sri Lanka’s Consul General M.M. Abdul Raheem and Sri Lanka Business Council in Dubai and Northern Emirates Chairman Farook Kassim. The event was the first road show since the end of the war in Sri Lanka organised to promote direct and portfolio investments from the Middle East. The Lankan delegation for the road show included JKH, Hemas Holdings, Expolanka Holdings, People’s Bank, Sampath Bank, Nations Trust Bank, Deutsche Bank, which specialises in providing trustee services to foreign investors in Sri Lanka and LR Global, the Sri Lankan arm of LR Global Partners, LP, a US based private equity firm specialising in frontier markets.
