In a historic and heart-warming development 336 youths from Northern Province joined theSri Lanka Police on Friday. This is the first time in 30 years the Police recruited Tamil youth to its service.

They were absorbed to the service after completion of six months of training at the Kalutara Police Training School. The Police hope to appoint these newly joined police officers to serve in the Northern and Eastern parts of the country filling the shortage of Tamil speaking police officers in the two provinces - Pic by Samantha Perera
