Sri Lankan resorts shine best in Asia in World Luxury Hotel Awards 2012

Six Sri Lankan resorts swept the board at the World Luxury Hotel Awards gala ceremony at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the collaboration of ITB Asia and France24 on Saturday.



Compared to other Asian country winners Sri Lanka stood above the rest at the gala event with six world recognitions. In the category of World Luxury Hotel Awards 2012 Continent (Asia/Indian Ocean) award winners.

Brook Boutique Hotel and Spa, Melsiripura won the Best Luxury Country Hotel; The Fortress Resort and Spa won the Luxury Coastal Resort, Casa Colombo bagged the Luxury Boutique Hotel and The Elephant Corridor won the Luxury Family Hotel.

There were two country winners with newcomer Maalu Maalu Resort and Spa clinching the New Luxury Hotel and Ulagalla Resort wining the Luxury Boutique Hotel.



Guests’ votes, travel industry consultants, a panel of judges from around the globe and ‘mystery guest’ visits selected the best of the best. Luxury facilities, standards and very importantly, Luxury Service delivery were considered, according to Director, World Luxury Hotel and Spa Awards, Marinique De Wet.

Smallest winning hotel was Brook Boutique Hotel and Spa, Melsiripura, Sri Lanka with just 10 Luxury rooms, proving that it is service and dedicated commitment to their guests that takes them to the top level.
