Sri Lanka, Singapore sign biz, investment cooperation deal

Sri Lanka and Singapore yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding on development of business and investment relations between the two countries on the sidelines of a two-day State visit by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the city state.



The signatories to the MoU were Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga on behalf of Sri Lanka and Singapore Business Federation Chief Executive Officer Ho Meng Kit on behalf of Singapore.

President Rajapaksa and Singapore’s Premier Lee Hsien Loong witnessed the signing.



Separately the duo also held bilateral talks at Singapore’s President’s House – Istana yesterday.

Singapore External Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam, Senior Minister of Trade, Industries and Home Affairs S. Iswaran, Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peries, Parliamentarian Sajin Vaas Gunawardane, Secretary to the President Weeratunga, High Commissioner for Singapore in Sri Lanka Chang Chai Choong, High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Singapore Ferial Ashraff and Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral were also associated with the President during the meeting.
