Sinhala Ravaya hands over petition to President against cattle slaughter

The Sinhala Ravaya organisation, a Sinhala Buddhist movement in Sri Lanka, handed over a petition against cattle slaughter to President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday at the Temple Trees.
The chairperson of the group Ven. Akmeemana Dayarathana Thero handed over the memorandum with five demands including the call for the ban of cattle slaughter in the country.
The Sinhala Ravaya launched a campaign from Kiri Vehera in Kataragama to collect signatures for the petition calling for the cattle slaughter ban and the campaign reached Colombo today.
The movement has been engaged in the campaign demanding a ban on cattle slaughter following the self-immolation of Buddhist monk, Ven. Bowatthe Indrarathana Thero for the cause.
The Sinhala Ravaya has vowed to continue with the campaign until their demand is met.
Several monks of the organisation and the Inspector General of Police N.K. Ilangakoon were present when the group presented the petition to the President.
