Boost for eight main roads with Rs. 34 b investment

The Government over the weekend kicked off a major infrastructure revamp in the Northern Province empowering it with the redevelopment of eight main roads with an investment of Rs. 34 billion.

Under the project the A9 road, Nedunkerni - Puliyamkulam road towards Mullaitivu and Oddusudan - Nedunkerni road towards Mullaitivu will be developed. The Chinese Government is supporting the project with a soft loan repayable over 20 years.

The project was kicked off ceremoniously inaugurating the development of the road from Kokilai to Pulmodai via Mullaitivu with the joint participation of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa.
