The Colombo High Court yesterday released businessman Ravi Wettasinghe on a surety bail of Rs. 100,000 and another two sureties of Rs.1 million each.
Wettasinghe, who was in remand, was produced in Court on charges of misappropriating Rs. 75 million when purchasing 143 buses for the SLTB. Wettasinghe became the Chairman of Wesco after he bought over the SLTB’s Werahera Central Workshop for Rs. 25 million in 1993.
High Court Judge Devika de Livera Tennakoon ordered him to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) once a month and impounded his passport.
