The Daily FT yesterday in association with the MBA Alumni Association of the University of Colombo and strategic partnership from Standard Chartered Bank held the first-ever pre-Budget open private-public forum.

Over a dozen business leaders representing several economic sectors revealed the most pressing issues facing their respective sectors and recommended solutions. They ranged from tax reforms, rectification of anomalies, introduction of targeted and time-bound incentives or concessions, new policy settings or changes as well as problems associated with cumbersome bureaucracy and time consuming and excessive regulations. These submissions got an attentive hearing from senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economic Development and institutions coming under both. Here Secretary to the two Ministries Dr. P.B. Jayasundera addresses the forum held at the Cinnamon Grand.
