Muthumani joins 7 billionth celebrations

Newborn Wattalage Muthumani, who was born at the Castel Street Maternity Hospital, on 31 October, is Sri Lanka’s showpiece baby as part of worldwide celebration of the seventh-billionth inhabitant.

Here she is seen with her mother D.D. Perera of Kelaniya at the Castle Street Women’s Hospital. A ceremony was also held at the hospital where First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa was present along with Unite Nations Population Fund Programme officials. Pic by REUTERS
