World heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield paid a courtesy call on President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday at Temple Trees along with Dr. K.A. Paul, a Christian preacher from the United States. Here during their meeting the sporty Rajapaksa gestures a fight and the return from Holyfield is only a smile.
In another frame (below) President Rajapaksa takes a close look at Holyfield's ear. The infamous ear bite by Mike Tyson took place during their heavyweight championship on 28 June 1997. In the third round of the match, Tyson lost what composure he had left, bit off a chunk out of Holyfield’s right ear and then spit it onto the canvas. Though Holyfield was in obvious pain, the fight resumed after a brief stoppage, and then Tyson bit Holyfield’s other ear. With 10 seconds left in the third round, Tyson was disqualified - Pix by Sudath Silva
