IFAC Chief meets President

Warren Allen, President of the International Federation of Accounting, who arrived in Sri Lanka to attend a meeting of the South Asian Federation of Accountants, paid a courtesy call on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees this week. IFAC is the world’s largest body of accountants with a membership of 130 countries and 179 affiliated institutes. Allen, who recalled his last visit to Sri Lanka 10 years ago, said that the country has achieved a remarkable transformation in recent years together with a vibrant professionalism in the field of accountancy. Cooperation with the South Asian Federation of Accountants would benefit Sri Lankan accountants as they are keen to acquire modern knowledge in accountancy, President Rajapaksa said. Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka President Arjuna Herath, Vice President Lasantha Wickramasingha and Secretary/CEO Aruna Alwis were also present on the occasion.
