IDC ranks Huawei as No. 2 smartphone vendor in Sri Lanka

Huawei achieves 18% market share in
Sri Lanka for Q4 2014
International Data Corporation (IDC) has announced Huawei, the leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider as the number two smartphone vendor in Sri Lanka for Q4 2014.
The report stated that smartphones contributed approximately 22% to the overall mobile phone market as the demand observed a continuous surge during the year.
According to the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for IT, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets, Huawei enjoys a market share close to 18% of the overall smartphone market. It further states that the brand continues to enjoy a good reach in both top cities and upcountry markets, as Huawei products are distributed exclusively through one of the most trusted names in the country, Singer.

According to a recent IPSOS Global Research report covering 32 countries, Huawei’s brand awareness rose from 52% in 2013 to 65% in 2014, representing a year-on year increase of 25%. Unaided awareness increased by 106% (from 16% to 33%). The top five markets for brand awareness include: Burma (100%), China (90%), Guatemala (88%), Costa Rica (88%), and South Africa (84%).
