An eye-opener for much bigger businesses in Sri Lanka, IT and HR solutions specialist hSenid yesterday created corporate history via a sponsorship deal with Australia’s popular domestic T20 league ‘Big Bash’ competitor Melbourne Stars for greater visibility and to boost its exports to the land down under.

hSenid has signed up as the Official Partner and HR Solutions Provider for Melbourne Stars – led by iconic Shane Warne – whilst the Lankan company will also partner with team mate flamboyant speedster Lasith Malinga as its Ambassador.

The second season of the Big Bash is on from 7 December to 19 January and the Melbourne Stars squad includes David Hussey, Cameron White, and Matthew Wade. Lasith is one of the two foreign players allowed per team. In the inaugural edition of Big Bash, Melbourne Stars emerged as number three. Eight teams figure in Big Bash.

Melbourne Stars CEO Clint Cooper said the deal with hSenid was the first overseas sponsorship arrangement for the team and emphasised the pioneering initiative would deepen Australia-Sri Lanka ties.

“This partnership with hSenid sets apart Melbourne Stars from others and we are confident it will be a win-win deal. We hope Sri Lankans will back this landmark partnership and support both Lasith Malinga and the Melbourne Stars this summer,” Cooper added at the signing ceremony attended by Australian High Commissioner Robyn Mudie.

hSenid founder and CEO Dinesh Saparamadu indicated creating history was a great moment for the 15-year-old company. “We are going for two great partnerships, which are firsts for a Sri Lankan company. Sports is a great way to build a brand and cricket is our passion; hence for a progressive company, this is a great opportunity for hSenid,” Dinesh added.

The company’s HR solutions branded ‘PeoplesHR’ have a base of 600 customers and 300,000 users in 24 countries across 18 industries. Australia is a new promising market, which hSenid entered 18 months ago.

“Our tie-up with Melbourne Stars was a well-thought thorough decision to associate with Australian target groups whilst not losing the Sri Lankan touch. Lankan star Lasith Malinga gives us this important Sri Lankan connection in the Australian market. We hope to make this partnership mutually-beneficial, showcasing Sri Lankan talent, and establish a long-term strategic advantage in Australia which is a key export market for us,” hSenid founder said.

hSenid’s solutions are exported to several countries in Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, and the US.

Lasith Malinga said it was “fantastic” that a leading Sri Lankan IT company was partnering Melbourne Stars and helping to strengthen business ties between Sri Lanka and Australia. “I am very excited about playing for the Melbourne Stars and working alongside hSenid during the forthcoming season,” he added.
