The interactions between the country’s two leading political figures appear frequent.

Hot on the heels of President Mahinda Rajapaksa wishing Ranil Wickremesinghe on Thursday on account of the latter’s 62nd birthday and re-appointment as the leader of the UNP, the duo met again yesterday at the ceremonial opening of the Gangaramaya Photo Gallery of Buddhist Paintings donated by Dr. Daya Hewapathirana and facilitated by Tasneem Moosajee. It was all smiles as Rajapaksa holding Wickremesinghe’s hand as Chief Incumbent of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero looks on.  The gallery, established under a concept of Chief incumbent of the Gangaramaya Temple Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thero, displays many replicas of murals and frescoes located in a number of historical Buddhist temples and archeological sites around the country. The President addressing the gathering said that the government would provide all necessary facilities to conserve the archeological heritage of Sri Lanka - Pic by Nalin Hewapathirana
